Application process

Stage one - Online application

  • The first step for providers to achieve accreditation is to complete an online application. It is important that we find out how providers meet the nine quality measures that are outlined at the beginning of each section. You will need to answer a series of questions and upload evidence to support your application where prompted.

Stage two - Review of application

  • Your online application will be reviewed along with the supporting evidence you provide to establish whether the minimum criteria has been met for the level of accreditation you have applied for. Where necessary we may request further evidence or clarification where there appear to be gaps or areas of uncertainty.

  • Where submitted evidence does not demonstrate achievement of the proposed level, you will be contacted by People 1st.

Stage three- Verification visit

  • Following your submission an assessment visit to your organisation will be arranged.  The purpose of the visit is to verify and amplify the information provided online.  We want to minimise any disruption to your normal business, but to support your submission, as a minimum the visit will involve:

a.            group discussion with a sample of members of staff
b.            discussion with a  sample of learners
c.            discussion with a sample of your industry partners or employers
d.            observing a sample of teaching and learning, in particular seeking examples of innovation
e.            viewing learning environments and resources

The assessor will also contact key people who cannot be present during the visit.

Stage four – Employer approvals panel

  •  A standardised report will be compiled including the outcomes of the on-line submission and the assessment visit with a recommendation for the panel on the level of accreditations that should be awarded.
  • Once the panel has endorsed the recommendation of the assessment team the decision will be securely published online.
  • If the application is unsuccessful, a summary of the decision will be made available along with suggestions as to where improvements can be made to achieve the standard.
  • If you are not satisfied with the outcome and process, you can appeal via People 1st to the panel.
